apology
We are sorry that the website has been down for a couple of days, this was due to a necessary move to separate hosting. 24th July 2010.
Welcome to the Chiltern & Thames Valley Connemara Group
...which is a region of the British Connemara Pony Society and covers the counties of Gloucestershire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
The C&TVC region are a friendly group of people and our aim is to encourage an interest in the amazing Connemara Pony! We hope to support our members by having fun, no-pressure events and an annual show for all to enjoy. We welcome input, try to be helpful and are happy to just chat ponies. If you would like to join us or just ask a question, please contact the Chairman Lynda Elliott via the Contacts page.
Chairman’s Chat - February 2010
Welcome to the updated version of my catch-up news.
Following last years successful programme of events, the committee is already hard at work, taking on board your comments and requests and getting events sorted for this year. As you will see from elsewhere on this website, the dates are set and we are all looking forward to another successful year of ‘connie events’, hopefully seeing lots of new faces.
The weather at the start of this year was not kind to us, but I think that the equines coped better than the humans, judging by the wonderful photos on the BCPS website “ Ponies in the Snow” If you have any really good pictures of your Connemara pony in the snow or indeed in any winter activity, please email them to Sue.Gillingham1@btinternet.com so that we can share them on this, our CTV Connemara website. Those of you who hunt your ponies will have had a frustrating time with long spells of frozen ground or alternatively, thick mud! Yesterday was almost Spring-like, so it was a shock to wake up this morning to a heavy snow shower just as we were heading off to a dressage competition!
Do have a look at the dates for events in this region especially the Clinic we are holding at Waterstock Equestrian Centre on 27th March. This is approaching very fast and we are lucky enough to have a really excellent instructor for some flatwork and WHP training. There are a few places left to fill.
Also, may I remind any of you who may have colts or fillies for inspection to contact the Secretary of the BCPS immediately.
The stud season will soon be upon us and I wonder how many of you have been thinking of putting your mare in foal. It doesn’t seem possible that the first crop of foals are due in about eight weeks or so. If and when they arrive, please do send photos to Sue Gillingham at the address above, so that we too can have a Regional Foaling News item. Yet again, can I appeal to you all to contact us with any news or requests. I am determined to make this YOUR Region.
Best wishes,
Lynda Elliott
